Our mission understands the vulnerability that exists in society today. The cycle goes beyond the typical attributes of homelessness: addiction, mental health concerns or generational poverty.  Vulnerability can extend to those with unexpected job loss, lack of familial connections and failing support systems.  We understand these threats and are committed to leading lasting, transformational change through structured support and community connections.

  1. An elderly gentleman who found himself homeless after an unexpected job loss and the absence of supportive benefits.  He has found work with a community partner and is now beginning a new chapter of stability in our program.

  2. A middle-aged divorced man shaped by generational poverty and years of addiction, has taken a courageous step toward rebuilding his life with structure, support, and community.  One of his Life Plans includes reconnecting with his children when it is appropriate to do so.

  3. A middle-aged single man experiencing homelessness due to a traumatic illness, little medical coverage and no family support.  He is now on the road to better health and is receiving the stability and encouragement needed to regain his footing.

Welcoming new participants also means relying on the much-needed help of our volunteers. Volunteers recently renovated the house on Race Street to accommodate an additional participant, creating a safe, comfortable space where they can feel at home and supported. The project created a new bedroom as well as a small storage room for supplies. The renovation was completed over a three-week period, with approximately two weeks of active work by seven volunteers. Improvements included adding a wall to divide the space into two functional rooms, installing electrical work, new flooring, updated light and fan fixtures, and painting both areas.

We are overjoyed to welcome three new participants into the Welcome Home Collaborative affordable housing and life coach program over the last month.
